KITAS

ITAS (Izin Tinggal Terbatas) and KITAS (Kartu Izin Tinggal Terbatas) are permits and identity cards, respectively, issued to foreign nationals who are legally allowed to reside in Indonesia for a certain period of time.

The legal basis for ITAS/KITAS is regulated under the Immigration Law No. 6 of 2011 and its implementing regulations, particularly the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. 27 of 2014 on the Procedures for Granting ITAS/KITAS.

To obtain ITAS/KITAS, foreign nationals must meet several requirements, including having a valid passport, a work permit, a sponsor letter from an Indonesian company or institution, and passing a health examination. The sponsor is responsible for assisting the foreign national with the application process and ensuring their compliance with Indonesian immigration laws and regulations.

Once obtained, ITAS/KITAS offers several benefits to foreign nationals, including the right to reside and work in Indonesia legally for a certain period of time, access to public services such as healthcare and education, and the ability to open bank accounts and obtain other services that require official identification. However, it is important to note that ITAS/KITAS does not confer Indonesian citizenship or permanent residency status.
